Sexual Assault Crisis Line

For Professionals

SACL works alongside professionals who support children, young people and adults impacted by sexual assault.

We provide specialist counselling, advocacy and consultation to support victim-survivors and the professionals working with them.

This page is for professionals who may encounter disclosures or presentations related to sexual violence, including:

  • Health professionals (emergency departments, GPs, nurses, midwives, allied health)
  • Mental health and AOD clinicians
  • Family violence, community and crisis support services
  • Children and young people focused services and educators
  • Police, legal and justice professionals.

How SACL Supports Professionals

SACL recognises the impact that sexual assault disclosures and crisis work can have on professionals.

We offer:

  • Secondary consultations regarding sexual violence, responses, and next steps
  • Clinical and reflective debriefing following challenging or distressing presentations
  • Support with trauma-informed responses and safety considerations

Professionals are encouraged to reach out for support. Early debriefing can reduce the risk of vicarious trauma and burnout.
