How could this have happened to me?

Sexual assault is a crime which can affect anyone. Research indicates that one in three girls and one in six boys living in Australia will experience childhood sexual abuse before the age of 18. Sexual assault can happen to anyone regardless of their age, gender, sexual orientation, ethnicity or socio economic status. Whatever you did to survive the abuse was a totally valid response. Whatever the circumstances, there is no excuse for sexual assault. You are not responsible for another person’s actions. No one ever deserves to be raped.
